VoltRadar is a mobile app that shows public charging stations for electric cars, their availability and their prices. This page explains in plain words which of your data we use, why, and what you can do. It covers the app and this website.
Who is responsible
The controller is Vassilis Pigadas, Greece, who publishes the app.
For anything about your data: vassilis.pigadas@gmail.com
In short
- The app works without an account.
- Your location stays on your phone. We do not send it to VoltRadar.
- There are no ads, and we do not sell data.
- We do not keep your IP address in logs.
- This website has no cookies and does not count visits.
What we use and why
Your location. If you allow location, the app finds the stations near you on your phone. It is used only while the map is open, never in the background, and it does not leave your phone to us. The Google map shows your position on the map; what Google receives is described under «The map». You can turn location off at any time in your phone's settings.
Station data. The app downloads the catalogue, prices and availability for each area of the map from our servers. The request only says which area is needed, with no identifier of you or your device, and we do not log it. To protect the service from excessive requests, the IP address stays in memory for a few minutes and is then gone. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running the service safely (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
The map. The map is Google Maps. When you use it, the Google Maps part of the app sends Google, directly, device details (model, software version), the IP address, a pseudonymous identifier, map error reports and map movements (panning, zoom). Google uses them as an independent controller, under its own privacy policy. We do not see this data.
Navigation. When you tap «Navigate», we give the maps app you choose only the station's position and name, not your position.
If you write to us. When you send an email, we keep your address and your message to answer you and to fix what you told us about. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering people who write to us (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
This website. This website has no cookies, does not count visits and loads nothing from other companies. It is served by Cloudflare, which sees your IP address to send you the page.
Who helps us run it
- Cloudflare delivers the station data and this website, protects our servers and forwards email to us. It sees the IP address to serve the request.
- Google: the map (Google Maps), the app's distribution (Google Play) and email (Gmail).
Our servers are in Greece. Cloudflare and Google are US-based companies; where data leaves the EU, it does so under GDPR safeguards (e.g. the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses).
How long we keep it
- Requests for station data: not at all; they are not logged.
- IP address: a few minutes, in memory only.
- Emails you send us: up to 12 months after the last message, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
- On your phone: the catalogue and prices until a newer version replaces them or you remove the app.
Your rights
You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and you can withdraw a consent at any time. Write to vassilis.pigadas@gmail.com; we answer within one month. You can also complain to the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (www.dpa.gr).
To delete an account: Delete your account.
Age
The app is meant for adults, aged 18 and over, and is not made for children.
Security
All the app's communication is encrypted (HTTPS). Data on our servers and in backups is encrypted.
Changes
When the app gets a new feature that concerns your data, we change this page before the new version comes out, and put the date at the top.
